Τὰ εἰς ἑαυτόν
Neither in writing nor in reading canst thou be able to instruct others of that which thou hast not first learned thyself.
. . .
No man can rob us of our free will.
A man must discover an art with respect to movements, and he must be careful that they be made with regard to circumstances.
. . .
All those things at which thou wishest to arrive by a circuitous road, thou canst have now, if thou dost not refuse them to thyself.
. . .
How it is that every man loves himself more than all the rest of men, but yet sets less value on his own opinion of himself than on the opinion of others?
. . .
See what things are in themselves, dividing them into matter, form and purpose.
. . .
How ridiculous and what a stranger he is who is surprised at anything which happens in life.
. . .
If it is not right, do not do it: if it is not true, do not say it.
. . .
Perceive at last that thou hast in thee something better and more divine than the things which cause the various affects, and as it were pull thee by the strings.
. . .

Dear River,
Oh dear and lovely river of my dreams
I watch you sway and sing the world to sleep
I watch my childhood playing with the fish
I remember the crystals on the waves
The wildflowers that I picked in bouquets
You moan, but none can hear your quiet cry
You flowed to town from gentle hills above
You twist and turn, you slow to quench a thirst.
In winter I see tiny snowflakes fall
We fail to help you now and in the past
We fail, but we stand to try once again.
Some say that only god can make a tree
But rivers can be saved by kids like me.

Don't Mean To Bum Anyone Out, But...
Although there's already at least one post on this blog about water pollution, if you care about your health, you may nevertheless want to read more via the links below, as conditions have (surprise) only gotten worse!
"Almost four decades after Congress passed the Clean Water Act, the rate of water pollution violations is rising steadily. In the past five years, companies and workplaces have violated pollution laws more than 500,000 times. But the vast majority of polluters have escaped punishment."
- The New York Times
